Colchicine

Acute gout. Prophylaxis of recurrent gout. Prevention of acute attacks during initial therapy w/ allopurinol & uricosuric drugs.

0.5 mg Acute gout Initially 1 mg then 0.5 mg every 2-3 hr until pain relief or diarrhoea/vomiting occurs or until 6 mg total dose is reached. Not to repeat course of treatment w/in 3 days. Prophylaxis 0.5 mg bd or tds. 0.6 mg Acute gout & pseudogout 1-2 tab every 2 hr until pain relief or nausea/vomiting/diarrhea occurs. Acute gout prophylaxis 1 tab daily 1-4 times wklyto 1 tab daily. Pseudogout prophylaxis Up to 2 tab daily.
